There are different types of T cells, including CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. What types of T cells are CAR T cells? What will occur when these CAR T cells encounter their target cells? I believe both types of T cells are CAR T cells but what do they do in CAR T response.
CAR T Cells are Chimeric antigen Receptors T cells. One must not confuse with naturally occurring T cells. These CAR T cells specifically modified T cells. Normal T cells do have the capacity to kill cancer cells. But some cancers can directly evade immune system. So, T cells from the patient's blood is collected and these cells are modified to express chimeric antigen receptors. these receptors help T cells to recognize Cancer cells in better way.
When these T cells encounter cancer cells, they multiply.these CAR T cells are invade into patient. As soon as CAR t cells recognizes cancer cells, they attack them and kill them. This is new way of anticancer therapy.
The normal T cells cannot recognize cancer cells and hence they are not of any use while CAR T cells do it work.
