Two types of aquatic life migrations:
1. Anadromous migration: Migration of life forms from the marine
environment to freshwater environment for spawning
Ex: Sea lamprey, Salmon, and striped bass
2. Catadromous migration: Migration of life forms from the
freshwater environment to marine environment for spawning
Ex: Eels
3. Amphidromous migration: Migration of life forms from sea to freshwater and vice versa
The migration of aquatic organisms occurs for several
reasons.
i. Spawning
ii. Feeding
iii. Nursery grounds
