Psychology is the study of people’s behaviour, performance, and mental operations. It also refers to the application of the knowledge, which can be used to understand events, to treat mental illness, and improve education, employment, and relationships. As psychology is related with the behaviour of people it has got a great role to play in our life.

Psychology in everyday life:
In the present scenario as we are living in a complex world where psychology has got a relevant role. Every day we have to deal with new and complex situations. Psychology helps to understand and handle these situations in a better way. Besides this it helps us to understand ourselves. This is because psychology studies our nature, how we think and how it is related to what we do, and why we think and act the way we do. By knowing ourselves we can develop our own goals also we can learn about others and their differences.
Psychology in workplace:
This is a place where most of the people experience severe mental stress. The reasons for this can be work pressure, behaviour and attitude of higher officials, competition among subordinates, work life balance and so on. Psychology is useful in these situations as it helps to handle it smoothly. Techniques in psychology help people to identify the potential within them and use it effectively and their by become a productive resource. It also helps to sort out inter-personal issues which in turn improve relationship among employees and employers. Many people find it difficult to maintain work-life balance. Techniques and tools of psychology like counselling can solve this issue to a greater extend.
Psychology in Hospital setting:
A major activity engaged in by psychologists in delivering health care is intervention or treatment, providing a wide variety of clinical interventions for individuals, groups, couples, and families with physical and mental health problems. Counselling is a major clinical intervention provided in the hospital. Greif counselling, infertility counselling and so on.

Psychology in School setting:
Psychology plays a vital role in schools through counselling. Psychology is a part of teacher training programmes so that they handle students with different abilities, behaviour and attitude. Problematic students can be handled through this technique. Psychology also helps in developing new and easy teaching aids.
Psychology in families, relationships and raising children:
As psychology deals with the behaviour and attitude of people it helps in maintaining strong relationships which in turn helps to sort out issues in families and relationship. The psychological services like parenting counselling, relationship counselling ease the child rearing process.
Psychology in the design of homes, offices, playgrounds, schools:
Psychology contains certain information that helps the smooth running of above mention places. It also contains certain architectural concepts which facilitates proper functioning of such places. The design of this places affect the mood and thoughts of people living or using it.
