A 22 pound infant is to receive 2mg/kg/day of a drug. The drug is available as 10mg/0.5mL How many mLs will be given if the drug is to be given three times a day?
22 pound = 10 kg.
He is to receive 2mg/kg/day which means according to his weight, he should be receiving 20 mg/day of drug.
Drug is available in the concentration of 10 mg/0.5 ml.
So, in oder to deliver 20 mg/day, total volume should be given is 0.5 x 2 = 1 mL.
