1) Mra is also called Magnetic resonance angiography. It is a test mainly used to generate images of arteries in order to assess for any formation of stenosis, occlusion, aneurysm pr any other form of abnormalities.
It is mainly used to evaluate the arteries of the neck and brain the thoracic and abdominal aorta the renal arteries and leg.
Neuroradiologist may use mra to evaluate the carotid artery in the neck and cerebral arteries in the brain, it may help show the shape and size along with the location.
It is known to detect any form of aneurysm an abnormal balloning of the artery. Aneurysm are known to be fatal.
It is less invasive, less expensive and faster to perform. It is known to rely on magnetic property of hydrogen atoms in the body.
It may also be used to detect for any stroke
Patient preparation-
The patient can eat, drink and take all medications.
They have to change into a gown
They are supposed to take a contrast that may be ingested through a iv cannula.
Ramove all magnetic elements.
Lie still during the procedure.
Post procedures-
Assess the vital signs.
Assess the creatinine level due to contrast.
Assess for allergic reaction.
