-Take an informed consent from the patient
-The patient must be refrain from eating and drinking for 4-6hours before the procedure ,this reduce the risk of aspiration of gastric contents during procedure.
-Take the vital signs (blood pressure, Temperature, pulse rate ,respiration rate, oxygen saturation )are recorded during the assesssment.
-collect the medical history(any concurrent medical problem, drug therapy, and any history of allergies)-
-Post operative care
-Monitor thepatient vital signs regularly according to their general condition,
-check for any changes in the breathing pattern , chest pain or oxygen saturation level.
-observe the patient for any post operative complications like nose bleeding, vocal cord injury ,irregular heart beat , lack of oxygen to the body tissue.
-observe the patient for bleeding , bleeding can occur when biopsies particularly of tumors are taken, When bleeding occur the patient should be nursed on the affected side to prevent blood entering the opposite lungs.
