"DETERMINATION OF PARACETAMOL IN PHARMACEUTICAL PREPARATION"

Introduction:

The paracetamol otherwise called acetaminophen it's a common pain reliever and used as antipyretic medicine . The chemical name is N-acetyl-p-aminophenol was firstly prepared by American Chemist Harmon Northrop. Its available in generic medication with the trade names include Tylenol,Panadol and others. Its commercial used for most cold and flu like conditions . Routes of administration is oral or Rectal but also in intravenous. It also available in the form of tablets,capsules ,syrup .It higher doses may result in liver toxicity and may occur in skin rashes.

Literature Review:

Paracetamol is a widely used as a analgesic and antipyretic drug. Paracetamol classified as a member of non -steroidal anti inflammatory drug that is NSAIDS. Paracetamol and its derivatives are great significance due to their importance in pharmacological system. The paracetamol is important compound which has been found to maintain and improve significant pharmacological activities. It's also important in the certain medical materials and derivatives. Adverse pharmacological activities of paracetamol and its derivatives are Antioxidant, Anti inflammatory ,analgesic and immunomodulatory activities. Some of the derivatives shows antimicrobial activity these are 2-oxo-azetidine and 5-oxo-imidazolidine . And the dicarboxylic acid bis ester and acetic acid have been shown analgesic, antipyretic and anti inflammatory and metacetamol derivatives show antibacterial and antihelmintic activity. These are the literature review about paracetamol preparation.

Discussion:

The paracetamol preparation study discussed methods are convenient and accurate way for determination of paracetamol drug in the marketed table using spectroscopy in the visible range due to formation of deep orange or red colour azo dyes. The paracetamol solution final volume is brought to be 25 ml with distilled water.

Conclusion:

The Amount of paracetamol from this method is found to be close with the amount claimed by the manufacturers. The percentage recovery was found to be in the range of 97.4-100.2% . 8 -Hydroxyquinoline indicating the suitability of the method for the determination of paracetamol in the pharmaceutical preparation.paracetamol , propyphenozone are commercial pharmaceutical preparations.
