Insurance companies charge higher premiums for people who smoke. Should they be allowed to charge higher premiums based on people's weight (i.e., obese, overweight). Do you think this would be effective in getting people to reduce their BMI or change their diet.
yes, insurance companies should be allowed to charge higher premiums based on people's weight beacause it will help people to reduce their BMI and change their diet habits. But their should be a condition for those people who are obese and have a medical certificate pertaining to the type of disease that has lead to obesity e.g hypothyroidism, PCOD etc. They should be given relaxation. The obese people who dont have any medical condition but are obese only due to their dietary habits need to be charged higher premiums so that they will work on reducing their weight and maintain their BMI in order to save money.
