COMMERCIAL RISK
Financially sound hospitals and physician offices areleaping into adopting EHR SYSTEMShowever,at the same time, some small hospitals and small physician officers are lagging bhind in the use of EMR SYSTEMS creating a digital device. This may be due to lack of significant return on investment inthe short term, considering the high cost associated with the adoption of EMR Systems..Although EMRhave the potential to improve the quality of care ,reduce medical errors, and lower administrative costs ,incorporating them into clinical practice will require large investments in technology ,inaddition to changes in existing systems and processes
contractual or legal risks
RISK FOR MEDICAL MALPRACTICE CLAIMS
Although EMR present significant opportunities for long term gai ,they are quit a thorn in physician's side at first.Physician undergoing EMR implantation are at increased risk for medical malpractice during the time of adoption.THE risk of error increases during the implantation schim or the time between the health systems transition froma familiar system to a new one .BEYOND boosting the mere risk of lawsuits ,EMRs also affect the cource of litigation by increasing the availability of data and documentation that can either defend or prove a mal practice claim.
the ikelihood of medical errors
.there is a common belief that EMR can gradually reduce medical errors .But just as a reliance on spell check can leave an email peppered with spelling blunders, too much dependence on EMRcan result in small mistakes that can quickly turn into medical errors..Most of the physicians overreliance on a simple EMR function like copy and paste can perpetuate mistakes, leaving along trail of errors less likely to be corrected. The copy and paste function also present issues when itcomes to authership if a medical record is investigated for legal purpose.
STEPS TO PREVENT RISKS
-Leaders may need to devote more strategy to ensure physicians are well-informed about compliance and legal risks
provide proper EMR TRAINING PROCESS TO Health care providers
Find private environment for teaching new clinical software
hospital leaders should promote coordination between the hospital ITdepartment and other health care workers
The hospital management should constantly evaluate physician -IT relations to ensure balance and cooperation
It is necessary to ensure that health ccare providers are more accepting to change and more likely to embrace the new technology
