What do you think are benefits and drawbacks of Boss-lesss organizations structure.
There are many benefits of the
boss-less organizational structure. The first benefit is the added
motivation and self-management by the employees to deliver the best
performance that is driven by the boss-less organizational
structure. It will make employees to take self-initiatives to solve
problems in innovative ways and build a close knit team. The second
benefit is the less burden of the hierarchy upon the employees and
it fastens the decision making process. Here, the authority is
distributed at different level, rather the authority being
centralized in the boss. The third benefit is the relatively higher
level of freedom at work and focus is upon the solutions, rather
the decorum of the hierarchy. It will promote the original ideas
and bring out the innovative solutions. The fourth benefit is
inter-relationship among the employees that is based upon
cooperation and coordination, rather dominance and authority.
Though, there are drawbacks also of the boss-less organizational
structure. The first drawback is the deviation from the establish
method of work that can backfire also. Changing ways of doing work,
may not always deliver better results. The second drawback is the
employees’ taking undue benefits such as casual approach to the
work, lack of discipline and missing the deadline more often. The
third drawback is lack of control of management upon the
organizational process. Inability to regulate the employees at
work, may cause the organization to lose market share. The fourth
drawback is the ambiguity in roles and responsibilities among the
employees. So, the organization can suffer also.
