Role of women in the economic development
The last quarter of the current centuary has experienced the dynamic changes in the education and encouragement of women. Also participation of women in local level government elected bodies has ensured the advancement of women in the economic development. Women entrepreneurs are also no less than the male entrepreneurs. Women entrepreneurs do not work in isolation, they work under same social, political, institutional framework as male counterparts do. There are many examples of both urban and rural women entrepreneurs who have major contributions in the economic development. But success doesn't come alone. Difficulties are attached to it. Mainly for women, challenges are already set because the society may not accept women and their success easily.
Challenges faced by women
Gender bias is the most crucial challenge which is to be faced by women no matter if she is an entrepreneur or a house wife. Also the society is not ready to accept them. Especially people with traditional thinking are the main hinders for women. They underestimate women. Also opportunities are not given to them. This is why they do not get chances to prove them.
Some rural women are the producers of goods and services. Also in a country like India, primary activities have a major contribution in the GDP. But the challenge is to break the stereotype which is being maintained for so many years and to create a new record.
