Mary who is a 21 year old female comes into the Family Planning clinic today for a PAP test, which is her first.
1) Mary wants to know how the PAP test is preformed and if it will hurt?
2) Mary inquires if she should be preforming SBE? Please teach Mary how and when to preform SBE for a premenopausal women.
3) Mary states her mother is a breast cancer survivor and want to know when she should get her first mammogram?
1..PAP test also called as smear test is an exam a doctor used to test for cervical cancer in womens.it is done at doctors clinic and takes 10-20minutes.
You will lie on a table wirh your feet firmly places in the stirrups.you will spread your legs and your doctor will insert a metal or plastic tool(speculum) into your vagina.He will open it so that it widens the vaginal walls.This allows him to see your cervix.your doctor will use a swab To take a sample of cells from your cervix .he will place them into a liquid substance in a jar and send them to lab fir review..
The pAp test doesnt hurt but you may feel a little pinch or bit of pressure.
