Suture is prepared from collagen derived from mammals or synthetic.Synthetic sutures can be monofilament or multifilament . It's diameter and tensile strength corresponds to the size designation on the label.Suture size is designated by the metric size and the corresponding USP Size.Sutures can withstand different amounts of force based on their size.A suture should have high tensile strength,high knot security,good tie down, good tissue tolerance.
