Deaf child:
A child who is unable to hear, or partially able to hear is called a deaf child . Care takers or teachers has to plan specially for the child with varying degrees of hearing impairment to accommodate him/ her in the classroom and to facilitate their learning process.
Generic instruction plan for a deaf child:
* When a deaf child peers are participating in lessons at their desk, The deaf child can:
- sit at the front row of seating, if the student is willing, it helps to see the things/ lip read clearly without an obstruction .
- the child can provided with a hand out or written materials.
- the child can record the lecture or copy it
- can read the caption of videos
* Class room jobs: the deaf child can ,
- participate in class room jobs with the clear understanding of the instruction from the teacher or the interpreter.
Teacher should ensure that the child is understanding the instructions clearly and minimize the back ground noise.
* Circle time:
- Can sit opposite to the teacher, while sitting in circle for fun, communication and games, so that he can understand the facial expression and communication of the teacher by lip reading

-can participate in art work such as water colouring, finger painting.
- can participate in fungame ' acting ' . Read the provided script and Act out.
* Group activities:
It can help the deaf child to learn emotional, verbal and social skills from hearing children. The deaf child can:
- participate in the group activities like other children, but make sure that he is 'in the group ' not getting isolated. Another child/ teacher can assist or help the deaf child to get clear understanding about the instructions.
* Lunch and snacks : The deaf child can
- sit with peers and have his lunch or snacks
- Teacher has to see that he is not getting isolated for lunch or snack time by other students.
* Outdoor games: The deaf child can
- participate in outdoor games as his peers are participating. Eg: football, cricket, net ball are suitable games as they have clearly defined criterias.
- Teacher has to give instructions to other children regarding the participation of deaf child and encourage them to support him while playing. Give the safety instructions to the child in a clear language with pace.
