Identify the external customers in the job you have or in the profession you hope to enter. Do you believe that focusing on internal customers is as important as focusing on external customers? |
I want to be a management consultant. The external customers are the clients of the company who pays to the company to avail consulting services.
Internal customers are the employees, shareholders, creditors, etc. Employees are the most important internal customers for any business organization. I think focusing on the internal customers is as important as focusing on the external customers. External customers are important for the profitability and sustainability of the firm. Internal customers are important for the successful operation of the firm. A firm cannot be profitable without serving its external customers. On the other hand, the firm cannot mobilize resources, execute activities, serve its external customers without taking care of the internal customers. An unhappy workforce cannot make a firm efficient or effective. Similarly, unhappy investors can make it difficult for the firm to mobilize resources. So, internal and external customers are equally important for the success fo a firm.
