Generic Mills Inc., in the interest of reducing health insurance costs, is investing in a wellness program for employees. They plan to survey a sample of employees to determine what type of program would be of most interest. Several different plans for selecting the sample are under consideration. Identify the type of sample that is described in each of the following.
a. There are 5 categories of employees (administration, clerical, operations, engineering, facility). Randomly select ten individuals from each category.
b. Each employee has an ID number. Randomly select 50 numbers
c. The HR Department has an alphabetized list of employees hired within the last five years. After starting the process by randomly selecting an employee from the list, every 6th name is chosen to be included in the sample.
a)
Stratified sampling refers to a type of sampling method . With stratified sampling, the researcher divides the population into separate groups, called strata. Then, a probability sample (often a simple random sample ) is drawn from each group.

Simple random sampling is a sampling technique where every item in the population has an even chance and likelihood of being selected in the sample. Here the selection of items completely depends on chance or by probability and therefore this sampling technique is also sometimes known as a method of chances.
Simple random sampling
c)
Systematic sampling is a type of probability sampling method in which sample members from a larger population are selected according to a random starting point but with a fixed, periodic interval. This interval, called the sampling interval, is calculated by dividing the population size by the desired sample size
