Visit a health clinic or physician’s office in your area and pick up an educational flyer or brochure about a disease or health problem. Critique the material for:
Reading level (does it match well with the intended audience?)
Clarity (simple terms or medical jargon?)
Visuals (are pictures or simple images used to help convey the message?)
ALTERNATIVE: Look in the newspaper or on the news for a health risk issue in your area. What were the interventions used? Could the disease or injury have been prevented?
The material or brochure that i have picked up is about The basics of HIV prevention. In this material the key points are stated regarding HIV virus like how is going to spread from one person to another person.Hiv transmission is generally occured by sexual contact with blood, semen, pre seminal fluids etc,but another way of transmission is not clearly stated that HIV can be transmitted through injection drug equipments, needles, blood transfusion etc.The risk of getting HIV is clearly mentioned in the brochure which help might help people to create awareness who visit the clinic regularly. The pictures shown are about life cycle of HIV virus, prevention by using various factors like vaccines, condoms, voluntary counselling, prevention of reuse of needles.
Behavioral interventions aim to reducebehaviours that make individuals more vulnerable to becoming infected or infecting others. These interventions have generally aimed to increase use of condoms or reduce number of partners.Yes the disease can be easily prevented by following all the precautions rather thinking about the cure later.
