Lake heat cycle can be defined as:-
The surface heat balance is applied to a lake's surface.The net heat flux through the surface determines the temperature responce of the water. Assuming advective conditions and the formation of an inversion above the lake the water temperature is got as a result.Only the meteorogical data of the surroundings upwind the well-mixed lake and its depth are needed to get solutions. An equilibrium temprtature with no heat flux through the surface is defined.Applied to the daily cycle of the surface temperature of lakes in the arid zones of the trrades generally one harmonic is sufficient to describe the water temperature .
Step of lake heat cycle.
let a lake be x,
accreation area = 50% and melting area = 50%, so
melting and accreation area are taken as half of the area of lake(m=0.5). Accreation and the maelting rate are9.5mm/a and represent an equivalent flux of latent heat of 92mW/m 2. accreation ice formed by frazile ice(5mm/a or 49mW/m 2) and host water (4.5 mm/a or 49mW/m2).Latent heat from the host water freezing is released in the accreation area (x lake area). The latent heat of frazile ice formation (Q2) is recycled by water circulation and finally diffused through the glacier but only in the melting area (Q'2). G is the geothermal heat flux carried toward the melting area by water circulation Q4 is the total equivalent heat flux arriving in the melting area. Q' and Q'' are the heat flux from ice advection and ice export respectively and the heat flux measured in lake x.
