What characteristics should a medium in which we immerse an object and make it transparent (or invisible) to you? Explain and give at least one example.
When the object is immersed in liquid or any other medium and we see that object is basically due to the concept of refraction and reflection of light. When the light rays fall on the object it gets either reflected of refracted which results in the visibility of the object. But if we take a madium with same refractive index as that of object then the light rays will not get reflected from the object and hence it will appear like only medium is present. Or we can say the object becomes invisible. For example when ice is immersed in the water with same impurities.i.e ice made from the same water and ice taken to be just after it is made. Then the light rays will pass straight through the ice appearing invisible.
Conclusion is that to make an object invisible the refractive index should be exactly same as that of medium.
