genetic research from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)
gene expression is the process of translating or producing a protein by a dna sequence. They have found that a diet with 65% carbohydrates, which often is what the average Norwegian eats in some meals, causes a number of classes of genes to work overtime, This affects not only the genes that cause inflammation in the body but also genes associated with development of cardiovascular disease, some cancers, dementia, and type 2 diabetes -- all the major lifestyle-related diseases. Both low-carb and high-carb diets are wrong but diet near to low carb diet is healthy.
Metabolites of vitamins A and D, fatty acids, some sterols, and zinc are among the nutrients that influence transcription directly. Components of dietary fiber may influence gene expression indirectly through changes in hormonal signaling, mechanical stimuli, and metabolites produced by the intestinal microflora.
