In my opinion wealth redistribution does not work on any level and especially not in the long term. For someone; a vigilante, modern day Robin Hood, even United States government, to suddenly make a decision that the rich have excess money and the poor don't, and then take it upon themselves to even out the playing field. The steal of money from the rich to give to the poor is unjust and unfair, even to the poor person who received the free, stolen, money. In such a scenario the rich lose what they worked so hard for and the poor are cheated out of the lack of an opportunity to earn that money for themselves. Consequently creates a broken society, where the rich no longer want to work for their hard earned money that they can't keep, and also expect to be given it freely to other poor people. Why work if its going to be stolen anyway, thus it does not works well in the long term. Moreover you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. Those people who work hard within it get rewards in return. Thus poor should work for their money not let other people do it for them. For removing poverty the government should improve the climate for investment, create jobs and provide more tools for improvement in their incomes and fairer treatment in economic policy.

Enact an income tax on high income households and directly redistribute the tax revenue to poor households. Considering both efficiency and equity, provide a reason that (a) would be preferable to...
