The Surgical integrity is important because the factors that increase the risk of patients during and immediate post-operative surgery. Surgical professionalism is important to provide quality care to patients. The teamwork reduces the risk of patients and enables to provide safe a quality care. Every caregiver has to provide effective care in order to minimize the risks. The healthcare providers have knowledge of National Patient Safety resources and to follow in their practice.
A strict aseptic technique to be followed by the surgical teams. Some external factors such as insurance demands and legal impacts act as a barrier, but the surgical team to be upheld. For example, the sterile tray set has been contaminated, the nurse does not hesitate to replace with a new sterile tray. A surgical Timeout is very important in doing things in a right way. The Nurse has the responsibility for the counting of sponges, instruments, and the needles before and after the surgical procedures.
Surgical site infection is one of the major complications after surgery. Initiate the patient to take an antiseptic bath for two days prior to surgery. Do not shave the hair before surgery. The OR nurses must ensure the prophylaxis and antibiotic guidelines. Encourage deep breathing and coughing exercise after surgery and dressing should be done under aseptic technique. Document and Report everything in a proper manner.
