There are two types of motor development, fine motor and gross motor skills. Between 2-3 years, they start to run and jump. Between 3-4 years they learn the ability to climb the stairs one step at a time in contrast to adults who climb the stairs with alternate foot. They can also peddle a tricycle.. Between 4-5 years they can climb the stairs with alternate foot., they can skip and hop. Between 5-6 years, tthey'll be able to ride a bicycle. Beyond 6 years they try to improve their gross motors skills.
When it comes to fine motor skills, between 2-3 years the child would be able to mold clay and build tower blocks.Between 3-4 they can dress and undress themselves. Between 4-5 years they can draw complex shapes. Beyond 6 years they'll be able to comb and brush without an adult supervision. The above mentioned skills should be taken into criteria while catering for the needs of the child.
Rotuine medications should be made available to the child. Health related equipments should be provided along with emergency assistance in the school needs to be taken into account before admitting a child at the shool.
Visual and auditory sense are of utmost importance in develoment of a child's motor skills.
