• Engages in political spending and activism.
• It represented all unionized workers in US.
• Several large unions split away from AFL-CIO and formed the rival change to win federation in 2005.
• AFL-CIO has a relationship with civil Right struggle.
• In1961,DR.Martin luther king gave a speech titled " If the Negro wins , Labor wins". to the Organizations convention in Florida.

King criticized AFL-CIO for its tolerance of unions that excluded black workers.

  

Amalgamated transit union:

:-labour organization in the US.

• Represents employees in the public transit industry.
• Established in 1892.
• It has members over 19,000.
• Union has its origin in a meeting of American federation of labor in 1891.

The objectives included Education, settlement of disputes with management and securing good pay and working conditions.
