Solutions

Expert Solution

ANS 1(a). DESK LENGTH ARMRESTS -. It is a wheelchair component ,in which the user can get closer to desk ,these are long enough to support the elbow of users ,and in this the arms doesnot bump into the desk . These are available in both fixed and adjustable height.

ANS 1(b) . FULL LENGTH ARMRESTS-. It is the most common equipment in wheelchair. It gives the user a larger area for gripping to support themselves. It generally extend the full distance from back canes to the front of seat frames. It support user during transfer.

Ans1(c). ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT ARMRESTS -.These can be adjusted for different user arm length and cushion thickness. It can be quickly changed to height to extend under or over the top of a table.

Ans1( d) . ELEVATING LEGRESTS - It can be set at any angle according to users need , it have special calf pads that support the leg when it is elevated. It can be set between 70degree to 180 degree ( legrest is equal to the level of seat of wheelchair ) .

Ans1(e) . FOOTRESTS - These does not have any particular size or height, positioning. They assist the user in setting up the optimum setting position , Improving posture .It is a hanger connected to a base where the wheelchair user can place their feet.

ANS 2. TILT -IN SPACE WHEELCHAIR -. It allows the wheelchair to tilt upto 30to 60 degrees . It is prescribed for the patient conditions ,like pediatric patient with SCI .  It provides more benefits than recline wheelchair   as it maintain posture of user , but it limit patients who use a desk or other furniture.

RECLINE WHEELCHAIR -. It offer better distribution of weight or load decreasing seat  -to-back angle of wheelchair . It helps the patients for easy transfer , passive stretch. It also lower extremely joint angles using the leg rest.

ANS 3. AMPUTEE WHEELCHAIR FRAME - For amputation and to Improve the users balance in wheelchair a frame is made in wheelchair. For users with below knee amputation, it provide a stump board to avoid swelling and reduce the risk of tipping It also provide the users with outstanding comfort and are easy to use andare customised according to requirement.

STANDARD FRAME -. It is most frequently used type of frame , they are not custom according to requirement , they are strong and durable frame and fixed length ,width and depth
