Greg owned a standard form of theft insurance on his car. One day, Greg’s car was broken into and vandalized. His portable CD player was stolen out from under the front seat. His leather jacket was stolen out of the trunk of the car. And, the driver’s window was shattered. What loss or damage was covered by the theft insurance he had on his car. Discuss.
Greg would only able to get insurance related to damages done to the Car. Unfortunately. the standard form insurance on His car will usually cover theft of built parts of cars as well as repair costs from break-in damages to the Car not the personal property like portable CD player ,leather jacket.
In this case, His original loss which was covered under this insurance is driver's window which was shattered. It will not cover your own personal belongings left inside,However, these items would likely be covered by a homeowners or renters insurance policy. If your car were stolen with personal items inside, you would need to file two different claims – one through your auto insurance and one through your homeowners insurance.
