Improving patient care and outcomes is paramount to the practice of nursing. Answer: Nursing is a life long learning profession. The main aim of the nurse is to provide and deliver better care to the patients and maintain the healthy environment. In nursing profession evidence based practice has played an important role in enhancing the delivery of the care and treatment to the patients.
Evidence based practice is not only concerned with the patient's treatment, care or diagnosis but also enables nurses to act and perform, make decisions and critical thinking. But sometimes there are some of the barriers occurs while practicing evidence based care or practice. The lack of up to date evidence as well as proper answer of the questions in the evidence based practice makes it more critical. Sometimes the evidence based practice or the information provided are not updated and which results in wrong calculation or working strategy. Most of the time at present scenario evidence based practice is not accepted due to lack of proper information which causes barrier in evidence based practice.
Evidence based practice has many advantages regarding taking care of the patients. For example, a patient is more prone to get infection in the hospital. To prevent this infection, proper hygiene, cleaning of the hospital as well as disinfectant are used to prevent transmission of infection. This maintenance is the evidence based practice. This will improve the quality of care provided to the patient.
Nursing profession is not only confined to a particular place or duty but it has vast responsibilities as well as duties. Educating people, promoting health care and also providing counseling to the patient are important task. Critical thinking skills is one of the new thing that result into most helpful as it enables nurses to act, think as well as make decisions at the unfavorable circumstances.
