Expert Solution

Infant and toddler learn by watching and using imitation. this process happens in the brain through a network of mirror neuron.

Mirror neurons were first seen in macaques. One of te scientest V. S. Ramachandran believes that the discovery of mirror neuron is one of the advancement in the field of neuroscience. Till date there is only few studies which gives evidence that mirror neurons plays a significant role in the congnitive activites such as learning via imitation as well as in emotions. This is a group of neurons located in premotor cortex, inferior parietal cortex, supplementary motor area as well as in somatosensory cortex.

With the help of research, it is believed that due to this neuron an individual is able to observe, percieve others and thereby recreates action. It is due to this system that one individual understands the action as well as the intention

Defect in this neuron system leads to autism and as the severity increases, the activity of this system decreases.

This system forms a link beween sender and the receiver.
