There are four aneuploidy conditions involving the sex chromosomes that have been quite well studied in humans, XXX, XO, XXY and XYY.(Please Just answer

1A. Give the names for these aneuploid conditions, their relative frequency among births and any phenotypic characteristics associated with them. (Please Just Give the answer for this question only for XXX)

1B. Often these aneuploidy conditions are discovered in a fetus by amniocentesis or some other prenatal test. Generally the primary purpose of testing was to identify more serous aneuploidy aneuploid conditions such as Down syndrome and a sex chromosome aneuploid condition is an “accidental” finding. Some medical geneticists have proposed that sex chromosome aneuploidy conditions should not be reported to the parents unless they agree to have genetic counseling. Why might genetic counseling be useful for such parents? Do you believe that this should be mandatory or simply optional (they can have the results without counseling if they wish)?

1C. Could CRISPR biotechnology treat one of these diseases? Why or Why not? Your answer needs to explain how CRISPR works in making your argument.

1A).Triple X syndrome, also called trisomy X or 47,XXX, is a genetic disorder that affects about 1 in 1,000 females....

Phenotypic characteristics associated with them are-

  • tall stature, v
  • Vertical skin folds that may cover the inner corners of the eyes (epicanthal folds),
  • poor muscle tone
  • , and a curve in the 5th finger towards the 4th.
  • . there may also be a small head (microcephaly).

1b). Genetic counselors can help you understand the chances of your baby having a genetic condition. They can answer medical questions, provide education and resources and also provide emotional support. Genetic counselors help people adapt and prepare for any risks or conditions.

Conditions like Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, cleft palate and heart defects can all be identified during pregnancy. By identifying these conditions, it is possible to begin treatments early and create therapy strategies....

Genetic counselling can be optional....

1. Attenuation is a regulatory mechanism that has been well studied in the E. coli trp operon, involved in tryptophan biosynthesis. Which of the following accurately describes attenuation? A: The goal of attenuation is to suppress the expression of biosynthetic enzymes when the end product of the pathway is available. B: The attenuator is a stem loop structure at the 5´ end of the mRNA transcript that resembles the structure of the factor-independent termination sequence. C: When tryptophan levels are...

Mapping traits to a chromosome Fruit flies have four chromosomes. Fruit flies also have a number of body markers that are useful for mapping genes to given chromosomes. Chromosome I is the X chromosome, which has eye color alleles w+ (red eyes, dominant) and w- (white eyes, recessive). Curly O (Cyo), located on chromosome II, is a dominant marker mutation which causes the wings to curl on the ends instead of beings straight (WT). Stubble (Sb), a dominant marker mutation...
