1B. Often these aneuploidy conditions are discovered in a fetus by amniocentesis or some other prenatal test. Generally the primary purpose of testing was to identify more serous aneuploidy aneuploid conditions such as Down syndrome and a sex chromosome aneuploid condition is an “accidental” finding. Some medical geneticists have proposed that sex chromosome aneuploidy conditions should not be reported to the parents unless they agree to have genetic counseling. Why might genetic counseling be useful for such parents? Do you believe that this should be mandatory or simply optional (they can have the results without counseling if they wish)?
