Is the Leapfrog Hospital Survey a national benchmark? Is it the same as the NQF(national quality forum)?
To understand this question first we have to understand what is the meaning of national Benchmark here. In the question it refers to the comparison and measurement of any healthcare institution and their services with different other healthcare facilities in the United States to get a wider and better knowledge about which organization is performing well and who needs some improvements.
Now when we talk about the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, its an annual survey volunteered independently in which different hospital in the United States are asked to submit their report on quality and safety being performed in their respective institutions which is then compared and measured and publicly reported by the hospital. It is said that more 2600 healthcare institutions are graded two times in a year. It was started back in 2001 with a vision to improve the structure of healthcare, quality of care and overall outcome of the hospitals around the United States. So, keeping these things in mind, it can be said that yes, the Leapfrog Hospital Survey ican be considered a national benchmark.
Similarly, the NQF(national quality forum) is another non-profit organization in the United states that works on improvig the healthcare by measuring and publicly reporting the quality and safety standards of any healthcare facility in the United States. It comprises of a mammoth total of 400 small organizations that constantly work on representing different health plans, medical personals, public health agencies, pharmaceutical and other medical equipment manufacturing companies, and all other quality refinement institutions.
