21. Predator prey

Competition is a type of species interaction in which one of the organisms is harmed and the other one is benefited. The most common example of this type of species interaction is predator-prey interaction. The predator is benefited in the the interaction because it eats the prey whereas the prey is harmed because it is killed.

Symbiosis and mutualism are sometimes used in place of each other. It is a type of species interaction in which both of the species are benefited. The most common examples of this type of interaction are mycorrhizae and lichens. Mycorrhiza is the symbiotic association between fungus and roots of higher plant. The fungus helps the plant in the absorption of phosphorus from the soil. Also the plant becomes abiotic and biotic stress tolerant in the presence of a fungus. And in return fungus get a shelter to live and Carbohydrate and lipids from the plants.

22. Carbondioxide

Greenhouse effect is defined as the mechanism in which the greenhouse gases are trapped in the earth's atmosphere leading to an increase in the Global temperature. The most important Greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide. Other gases include Methane and chlorofluorocarbons which is released from air conditioner.

Mutualism is a type of symbiosis where both organisms benefit from the interaction. Working together is such an awesome evolutionary strategy that we see examples of mutualistic relationships across biology (even in microbes!). Pick an example of a mutualistic relationship and tell me about it. What are the species? What does each one bring to the relationship? How have these species evolved together to strengthen the interaction (i.e. coevolution)?
