b. What are the three types of central venous catheters? Briefly describe the central venous catheters.
ANS- central vinous catheter is also known as central vinous. It a interbvenous catheter that is inserted in the large vien in the central circulation. Central venous line provide a easy Access to for intervenous medications. A central line will relieve a patient from discomfort and danger of mutliple regular intervenous lines for chemotherapy and easily adminstration of other drug and blood sampling is also easy, Peripheral IV line is not recommended Because antineoplastic drug causes irritation and blister which may damage viens , so nurse should used central vinous line for antineoplastic agents.and some time difficult to insert periferal line due to fragile veins so port or central line is preferred in cancer patients for chemotherapy.use a central line with care and safety to prevent infection and changing of dressing routinely.
ANS- central line Cathetar.
Is also known as central line, central venous access Cathetar is a Cathetar placed into large vein.
Sites for CV line
Neck, chest, groin, peripheral inserted central catheter.
It is used to administer medicine, fluid not take by mouth, a medication can harmful for periferal vein, for obtain blood sample, measure central venous pressure.
Indication.
- long term antibiotics
- long term pain medication and chemotherapy
Drugs prone to phlebitis such as calcium chloride, hypertonic saline, pottasium chloride etc.
- frequent blood drawn.

Cathetar types--
tunneled Cathetar-it is a tube placed under the skin in a vein, allow a long term access to vein.
placed at neck, groin, liver or back . The Cather is tunneled under the skin
