How many spermatogonia entered meiosis?

Expert Solution

Answer---

In Meoisis I there 46 spermatogonia and in Meiosis II there 23 spermatogonia entered.

Explain---- Spermatogenesis is the process by which haploid spermatozoa develops from germ cells in the seminiferous tubules of the testis. The process start with the miotic division of the stem cells located to the basement membrane of the tubules. These are called spermatogonial stem cells.

In this process there are 3 phases viz.

  1. Formation of spermatogenesis--- In the form of Seminiferous tubule there primordial germ cells divide mitotically and repeatedly divide and produce many spermatogonia. Spermatogenic are 2 types, Spermatogonia A( work as stem cell) and Spermatogonia B ( work as sperm mother cell).
  2. Growth phase----- Each spermatogonia B divided and produce big size primary Spermatocyte (Primary Spermatocyte =2n)
  3. Maturation Phase----- Each spermatocyte cells divide meiotically ; the 1st division is reductional division and result one spermatocyte cell produce two haploid secondary spermatocyte. After this division then the equitional divison and result each Primary spermatocyte result 4 haploid spermatid.

Through spermatid to produce spermatozoa process is called spermiogenesis . One spermatogonium produce four sperms. The release of sperm is called spermiation.
