What are the factors that effect strategic planning with poor leadership
Ans- A good strategic plan is the first step in organizational success. We know that sound strategy pave the way for effective and successful business, but mere implementing good strategic plan is not gurantee to success, unless it is done with strong leadership. Means, there are various factors that affect strategic planning with poor leadership, some of them are as follows:
• Incompetency in facing challenges: Challenges in business environment can not be defined. There can be obstacles at any step, if it is left unaddressed then it can create stumbling block of the organization. While developing and implementing strategic plan all the obstacles should be removed, if all the obstacles are addressed then you are actually left with strategic plan.
• Ambiguous objectives: Often we can see leaders are entangled with long to- do lists. This long to-do list are not strategic plan. Organization should focus on small list action item that provide huge benefits or base for huge benefits. These to- do lists should bridge the gap between critical organizational purpose and current state of organization.
• No accountability or nobody follow through: When plan is developed then it require a sound and tough leadership. When plan will executed it should be checked what are consequences that are not delivering on the strategy.
• Unwillingness or inability to change: Sometimes we see some leaders resist to change with full might. They want to maintain status quo. In such case your strategic plan should be nimble and adaptable, so that this change can be embraced by all leaders.
So, these are some factors that effect strategic planning with poor leadership.
