Solutions

Expert Solution

The sibling relationship between the same gender is more stronger because of the similarities they share as compared to the opposite gender. Children with easy temperament have a strong bond with their siblings as compared to the difficult one. Age plays an important role in sibling relationship,as the younger ones most admire their brother or sister who is four or more years elder and a strong relationship is established, also strong relationship is seen among those siblings where the age difference is less than two years. Jealousy and competition is often seen among siblings whose age difference is more than two years and less than five years. When the children assume that parents are more partial to their siblings or feel that their siblings are being favoured by the parents, sense of jealousy and competition occurs, this adversely effects the sibling relationship as rivalry occurs in this relationship. The parents who are responsive and are attentive to their children's need facilitate a strong and healthy sibling relationship
