Consider two tests that could be used to evaluate a university’s effectiveness at teaching critical thinking and communication skills to undergraduates. The first test is a multiple-choice test with questions on reading comprehension, language, and math, similar to the SAT in the United States. The second test provides the students with a single real world case involving practical issues and data, including quantitative data, from several sources. The product that students produce for the second test is a memo, which must suggest a particular response to the case and support the decision with evidence and analysis. The second test is graded using specific criteria on critical thinking and communication (a rubric).
Discus the validity of each test for assessing the level of critical thinking and communication skills of students. Compare and contrast the two tests in terms of validity.
Discuss the reliability of each test for assessing the level of critical thinking and communication skills of students. Compare and contrast the two tests in terms of reliability.
1)The tests introduced for assessing the validity of testing services with respect to the education of children includes the test of science critical thinking (TSCT) which is much similar to SAT exams and analyzes the comparison and contrasting of situations, cause and effect of situations, and order of sequences in which the situation takes place in real life. The difficulty index, discriminating index, Richardson-Kuder reliability test, validity testing was done with the help of computer generated graphics of various mechanisms involved in science subjects to test the critical thinking and aptitude of students in school.Gunn has developed various statistical testing experiments on school children to analyze the importance of thinking, creativity, solution potential of various scientific experiments and problems to decipher the analytical abilities of children.Schwartz analytical design and Bloom desingning methodolgy was designed for testing the communication, reasoning ability and argument analysis of students.
2)The reliability of testing was considered with the help of Richardson-Kudel testing values with statistical parameters taken into consideration. The analysis of testing values is performed with the help of standard school science teachers who prepare the experimental designing, analysis and effect of various situations with development of self-appraisal and self-satisfaction with confidence for the students taking the test to encounter any situation in life and handle and troublshoot real life science problems whenever required.Further science model building and testing with every parameter value, graph analysis and error measurement is perfomed to check the validity of results obtained and products developed in companies and industries.Pearson testing and statistical coefficients were calculated with the help of parameter values.
