ASSESSMENT:

Group of Students: PreSchool and school aged children

Venue: Gymnasium.

Date & Time: 5th May 2018 from 09:00 Am onwards.

The location that has been chosen for the fair is gymnasium i.e a place which is build up for games, physical activity and gymnastic. The location will be spacious and would appear interesting for children that will positively effect the learning. But among the preschool children, their attention may be scattered due to the presence of playing items and other game items. This will negatively influence the learning.

Benefits: The fair regarding fire/flames safety among preschool and school age important in order to prevent mortality resulting from fire, to keep the environment safe for them and to learn measures to e taken case of a fire. The fire safety in premises of school is achieved by combination of an effective fire and safety policy and provision of adequate fire and safety measures within the premises. The Fire Service Act 1981, was applied in all premises of preschool

Growth and development: In preschool age, the cognitive development occurs according to Piaget. The child develops life long habits with what he learns at this stage.According to Erickson, preschool children learn through play and imagination. Bolby and Ainsworth says that the preschool children feel secure and attached to caregivers.The comes who has good attachment to their caregivers tend to learn faster. According to Bandura children learns things through observation of the people nearby. It effects their behavior greatly.Khlberg and Gilligan states that the moral development of a child is related to the reward and punishment attached to a specific action. Child considers things to be good with rewards and things to be bad without rewards or with punishment., . According to Fowler, spirituality among children is embedded in meaningful relationships. This spirituality develops a feeling of trust, hope and inspiration,

PLANNING:

  • The group of preschool children should be cautious while handle the extinguishable items by the end of this fair.
  • At the end of this session, the preschool children will be able to identify the materials that can cause fire.
  • At the end of this session, the group of children will be able to take measures to prevent fire and also to combat fire.

IMPLEMENTATION:

Fire and safety is a set of practices that is meant to reduce the destruction caused by fire. In a home there are several things that can catch fire easily and there are main factors that can cause fires. The materials that can cause fire are :

  • Candles, match sticks
  • Oil lamps, Kitchen gas
  • Electrical appliances

The others materials that can catch fire easily at home are:

  • Wooden articles like bed, chairs,tables
  • Papers materials
  • Clothes

Precaution should be taken while handling these equipments. There are certain measures to be taken in order to prevent fire:

  • Place smoke detectors at home and it should be replaced once a year.
  • Do not play with lighted candles, matchboxes.
  • Never place the electronic and electrical equipment within the reach of children.
  • Do not allow children to play with gas tubing, oil products, lamps.
  • Children should be clothed appropriately according to their size
  • Do not construct switch boxes at the reach of children.
  • Explosives should be kept away.
  • children should shout loud in case of fire to seek help and should immediately move out from the place of fire.

The teaching material that can be used among preschool are templates, flip cards. And for school age children, role play and Charts can be used.

EVALUATION:

The preschool children will be able to identify the materials that can result in fire.

The school children will be able to identify the fire causing agents and will also learn how to seek help at times.
