What are some problems with firms reporting their sustainability performance based on metrics that do not consider their extended supply chain? What would you suggest the firms do to help remedy the problems? Explain your answer.
The major problem for reporting sustainability performance based on metrics that so not consider their extended supply chain is that the results will be short term and cannot be relied in the long run. The decision making would therefore generate misleading information. This is an approach that affects reputation of the firm in future.
Another problem is that it does not support full green supply chain management. This is because using the extended supply chain will help in reverse logistics. This is an approach that will limit recycling or reuse of the products in the market.
Moreover, reporting sustainability performance based on metrics that so not consider their extended supply chain, would leave the firm at a situation that could open up for increased risks. For example, the firm may not address supply chain risks arising from waste.
Suggestions to address or remedy these problems

This is an approach that will ensure that the firm is able to develop goals that will lead to more development better supply chain management and lead to greater success in the organization. · Join the wide network of supply chain industry standards and expectations. This is because these industry standards will support better performance in the organization and thus lead to better successes in the long term.
