Longterm care is assisting with basic care needs than medical needs.Advancement of age an individual leads to difficulties in performing activities of daily living due restricted or limited movements in body or loss of strength or any other diseases like dementia which make them to forget their ADL. Also help clients with mental illness,developmental disabilities, children with chronic illness &special needs. Bathing, eating , dressing , walking, toiletting are some of the activities of daily living. ADL are used to measure the physical function of the person and help to perform their day to day activities . Some scales are used to measure the physical function through measuring the capability of individual in performing their daily activities.

Instrumental activities of daily living are preparing food, giving medications, buying groceries and shopping , providing moral and mental support through communication, etc.
