Question....
why you made those particular choices(list above) and what makes them appropriate for preschool children.
Preschool offers learning opportunities to children usually between the ages of two and half and five. These are the most critical years of the child's life and lays the foundation for his/her learning and holistic development. It is during these years that children develop the cognitive, physical, social and emotional skills that they need to succeed in life.
Early childhood education needs to be creative and adaptive. This is because children's brains at this stage develops faster than at any other point of their lives and their needs are unique. Lessons in early childhood education are very hands-on. They involve arts and crafts, storytelling, exercise, educational games and more. Safety is an important feature when one is involved with preschool children. Potential hazards have to be eliminated. Keeping this in mind, safety in play area, quality of toys and learning materials should be checked. Injuries, accidents, choking hazards and accidental poisoning are some of the issues that should be looked into. Hence providing safe toys and materials are a top priority while purchasing them.
The use of Fully Washable Liquid Tempera paint in classrooms is ideal because it is water-soluble allowing it to be washed from surfaces quickly and thus making it ideal for educational use or where groups of children are painting. It is a safe non-toxic paint which is very colourful and quick drying. There are no allergic substances like eggs, nuts or wheat in this type of paint. They are inexpensive and easy to cleanup. Therefore I would prefer Tempera paint over others.
Play dough mats are a great tool for children to work with as great for multi-sensory developmental play. Fine motor skills are also strengthened while using them. Learn the Alphabet Play Dough Mats has outlines showing an upper and lowercase letter, plus pictures representing the letter sound. Kids use dough to form each letter right on the mats thus boosting letter recognition and fine motor skills.
Write and Wipe Lapboard help in building language and literacy among preschoolers. They are easy to clean and the perfect size for children to use on their laps. Mistakes made during guided practice can be easily brushed away. These lapboards have rounded corners for safety and hence ideal for children to practice writing letters.
3-Letter Word Building Puzzles helps develop basic word building skills, fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination. These are thick and durable and have rounded corners for easy sorting. Hence this would be one of the materials that I would choose for preschoolers.
Mold and Play Sensory Sand Set encourages creative play for kids. Moulding the sand and working with the tools helps preschoolers develop fine motor skills and keeps their imagination working. It is mess free. It feels and sticks together like wet sand but it's completely dry. Sand is a great sensory toy for kids and helps explore their sense of touch. It also helps build eye-hand coordination. Playing with sand is a social activity and thus builds social interaction among the kids. It is non-toxic and hence totally apt for preschoolers and therefore I would recommend choosing it.
In conclusion, the above mentioned reasons help sum up my decision to choose these specific preschool materials for their diverse in playability, simple design, sturdiness and child safety. These I believe would give a headstart for their future education.
