a. What can you tell him about the pathophysiology of his condition?

c. Two years later, he comes back in to see you for a duodenal ulcer. What can you tell him about the pathophysiology of this condition?

Thea and Daralina talking before class one day and Thea said that she had worried about her grade in the class because she has missed a lot of class. She states that she has been diagnosed with inflammatory bowel syndrome. Daralena says she thinks that what her father was recently diagnosed with- Crohn disease. Hmm, Thea thinks, my diagnosis is ulcerative colitis. The begin to compare and contrast the two conditions.

Alma is a 55 y.o. women, who suffers from constipation, abdominal pain and bloating. She is overweight because she leads a sedentary lifestyle and because she does all the cooking for her family, she is unhappy and tends to overeat. A colonoscopy reveals that she had inflamed outpouchings in her mucosa.

a. In reflux esophagitis the stomach contents come back to the esophagus.This can happen when the sphincter at the lower end of the esophagus does not get closed properly.The gastic fluid and the other enzymes which come to the esophagus cause errosion or distruction of the epithelial cells .This can cause symptoms like heart burn.

b. Suggest the client to have life style changes which include elevation of head end while sleeping,avoid sour taste food,avoid the foods which contain cocoa.Avoid eating full stoch take only small and frequent meal.Early dinner is recommended and do not lie down soon after taking the meal.Also to have a periodic check up and to take the drugs such as h2 receptors to according to the doctors advice.

c. The duodinal ulcer is due to the H pylori.The epithelial lininig of the duodinum causes incrsed secretion of the mucous in response to the irritation due to the Helicobacter.pylori. which is a bacteria.This can cause inflammattion of the duodianl mucosa.Also it can be seen in patients who takes drugs like brufen.

d.The health advice that can be given to the client with duodinal ulcer include,avoid using tea or coffee,food like grapes,avoid alcohol consumption.avoid using soft drinks like cola.avoid milk in the diet.Avoid using anti inflammatory drugs such as brufen and aspirin
