Expert Solution

Welcome to Aula Ya Q&A

Cu2+ + 2OH-   ---> Cu(OH)2

Combination reaction. I balanced the reaction by adding a “2” before the hydroxyl ion. In this way you have the combination of copper(+2) ions and two hydroxyl ions to form a single molecule of Copper(II) hydroxide

CuSO4 x 5H2O ----> CuSO4 + 5H2O

Decomposition reaction: In the left side of the reaction we have a crystalline hydrated salt which upon a desiccating procedure turns into a dried salt. The procedure requires that the original crystal structure decomposes. Water evaporates when a solid is desiccated but it can be added to balance the reaction as a separate component.

CuSO4 + 5H2O ------> CuSO4 x 5H2O

Combination reaction: The reverse process to the above reaction. Now water is combining with the solid dry copper sulfate to form a crystalline hydrated salt. Again, to balance the reaction it is necessary to add the 5 mol of water

NH4Cl -----> NH3 + HCl

Decomposition reaction: A classic AB ------> A + B decomposition process. The reaction is already balanced. During the decomposition one compound splits apart into two (or more) elements or compounds.
