A balanced diet is very important to regulate and maintain healthy body and mind. A balanced diet does not only contain essential amounts of proteins, fats and carbohydrates but it should also contain enough amount of vitamins and minerals. The essential minerals are the minerals that are required in the body and that should be supplied in proper amount to the body. These minerals consists of the micro minerals and the macro minerals. Adopting a healthy diet can supply the required amount of minerals to the body. Adding fruits, vegetables, legumes, beans, low-fat proteins, whole grains, and dairy products can enough minerals to the diet. Macro mineral such as calcium is required in maintain healthy bones and it can be added to the diet by adding cheese, yogurt, small fishes, milk, peas and beans to the diet. Sodium and potassium are required to maintain healthy water and electrolytes balance in the body and they can be added by eating fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, sweet potatoes, bananas and seafood. Further, iron is a micro mineral and it is required for maintain the hemoglobin level in the body. It can be added in the diet by eating tofu, cashews, baked potatoes, spinach and apple.
