Knowing that significant value orientation differences may exist between you and your clients in the community, what specific actions might you take that reflect culturally sensitive care?
Most of the time a significant value orientation differences exist between the healthcare provider and the person requiring health care in the community. Being a health care provider or a healthcare professional my actions in this type of case will be like follows:
1. First and foremost action for me will be to assess the required healthcare service that meet the patients social, cultural and linguistic need of the patient. I will need to find out if there is any cultural or religious belief or practices exist to support and respect their need.
2. The focus will be on providing skilled patient care to the best of my ability simultaneously will always ne ecouraging the patient to share their views regarding any cultural sensitivity that need to be taken care of.
3. When the faith and religious belief need to be taken care of, it is also important important to assess social and economic sensitivity as people from different socio economic background may have different approach for healthcare and treatment. We should never make any assumption about what they belief, rather need to ask and gain knowlede for the same.
4. When the cultural diversity is there, it will be always important to develop mutual trust and respect without which it will not be possible to go far providing healthcare or implementing treatment program. To avoid any disparity and healthcare I will need to gain the trust from the patient.
5. If there is linguistic difference, I will need to arrange for translatot to ensure that the patient can communicate effectively.
