Select a commercial antifreeze and for your own car theoretically calculate the amount (volume in oz) of antifreeze needed to prevent freezing of water in car’s cooling system at -34.0 OF.  Then compare this value with the one recommended by manufacturer of antifreeze. To be able to make simple calculation of the amount of antifreeze it is assumed that ethylene glycol, CH2OHCH2OH, is the only component of commercial antifreeze. (I have a 2016 Ford Raptor)

You need to know and do.

  1. Use Freezing point depression formula
  2. Need to know how to convert temperature
  3. Need to know metric to British and vice versa conversion
  4. Need to know the density of the antifreeze
  5. Need to know the volume capacity of the car’s radiator

exercise 5.2 Develop Your Own Commercial Imagine that you are your own “product.” You have to sell yourself and your potential contributions to a potential employer or buyer. What would you sell? For example, what are some of the strengths you bring to the table? (Hint: Review the section in this chapter on seeing yourself as a “brand.”) On a separate sheet of paper, spend 5–10 minutes free writing and brainstorming about you as a commercial. Next, what action or...

Suppose that you own a car dealership and purchase (randomly select) 10 cars of a certain make from a production run of 200 cars. Of the 200 cars, 160 are destined to last at least five years without needing a major repair. Using the hypergeometric distribution what is the probability that at least 6 of your 10 cars will last at least five years without needing a major repair.
