Background :
The fictitious study is about the measurement of Biomass under a specific climate condition in a given area (plot). Here the test conditions are winter, spring and control ( any climatic condition provided the area used for calculation remains same) . A plot is a app. 0.17 acre. Biomass is literally any mass, even waste/refuse from plants or animal origin .
Techniques used:
There are many techniques to calculate biomass. It is important that the method applied is compatible with the current inventory and practices.
In the Plot Level Calculation Living biomass, dead organic matter and soil are taken in to consideration. Alometric equation , statistical analysis, potential secondary data are some of the techniques.
General continuous forest Inventory: Some plots are systematically distributed in line-plots over over the whole area of wood concessionaires . Diameter, species name etc are recorded. concessionaire results are evaluated by the government.
Destructive tree sample volume measurement:
Diameter is measured in 2m interval.
Diameter reference and stump heights are measured.
Bark thickness at lower and upper cut are recorded.
