Once this food gets to the landfill, it then generates methane, a greenhouse gas 23 times as potent as carbon dioxide in trapping heat within our atmosphere. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, landfills account for 34 percent of all methane emissions in the U.S.meaning that the sandwich that we made and then didn’t eat yesterday is increasing one's personal and our collective carbon footprint.
In my opinion wasting food for landfill will lead to an end of our lives if it goes at this increasing rate which will lead to generating methane gases and ultimately leading to global warming causing a huge destruction to earth. This causes deterioration of the nature and also one's personal health. So all the citizens should take appropriate care in not wasting food for land fill, one should get food that they need and should have it rather than wasting it.One can also share excess food with the poor rather than wasting it.
