a. All the elements of a data set are called population while a sample is one or more observation obtain from the population. On the basis of sampling method, a sample can have a larger number of observations, an equal or smaller number of observations than the population.

b.A categorical variable has two or more categories. It is either unordered or ordered. Male/female, alive/dead, blood group O, A, B, AB are the examples of unordered variables

c. If you have quantitative data, then you can determine it by using either descriptive or inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics used to measure mean, median, mode, measures of standard deviation, variance, and relative position (quartiles, percentiles). Inferential statistics used to determine the simple description of data and find out conclusions based on your data.

d. Variance is a measurement of variability between numbers in a data set means it determines how far each number in the set is from the mean.
