A person is wearing a thin bracelet on a wrist that has a diameter of the bracelet, 6.2cm, and the diameter of the wire is 2.0mm. The person moves the position of the hand whilst the bracelet is attached on the wrist from a position of very low magnetic field strength into the MRI scanner's 2.00T field with the hand pointing towards in the direction of the magnetic field.

a) Find the average emf induced in the gold bracelet, assuming it takes 0.250s to move it into the field.

b) Would the temperature of the bracelet change? Explain with calculations.

Assume the resistivity of Gold is 2.4x10^-8 Ωm, density 19.3 gcm-3 and specific heat as 0.13 kJkg^-1 K^-1

A compound thin cyclinder has a common diameter of 100 mm and the inner cylinder has a thickness of 2.5 mm. The radial pressure between the two cylinders is 200 kPa and the difference between the two common diameters before shrinkage was 4.305×10-3 mm. Determine (a) the thickness of the outer cylinder (b) the resultant hoop stresses in both cylinders if the compound cylinder is subjected to an internal pressure of 180 kPa. (E = 200 GPa)

A thin circular sheet of glass with a diameter 5 meters is rubbed with a cloth on one surface and becomes charged uniformly. A chloride ion (a chlorine atom which has gained one extra electron) passes near the glass sheet. When the chloride ion is near the center of the sheet, at a location 0.8 mm from the sheet, it experiences an electric force of 8e-15 N, toward the glass sheet. In this problem, use the value ε0 = 8.85e-12...

Medical research has shown that repeated wrist extension beyond 20 degrees increases the risk of wrist and hand injuries. Each of 24 students at a university used a proposed new computer mouse design. While using the mouse, each student's wrist extension was recorded. Data consistent with summary values given in a paper are given. Use these data to test the hypothesis that the mean wrist extension for people using this new mouse design is greater than 20 degrees.
