The federal government, including the CDC, with the full support of the White House is promoting a multi- pronged effort to combat antibiotic resistant organisms. These include educating people about antibiotic use; mandating immunizations; use of the antibiogram; "say no to Vanco". What are some interventions to use from a cellular to systems level?
Antibiotics are known as wonder drug.In developing countries it is easily available and bought with out any prescription,it is the main reason for resistance.so provide adequate education to patients and general public.Antibiotic resistance was reported to occur when it loses its ability to inhibit bacteria effectively. The bacteria begin to multiply and grow in the presence of therapeutic level of antibiotics.
There are many ways that drug resistance csn be prevented.
immunization
safe food production
hand washing
use antibiotics as prescribed and when needed
Preventing infection also prevent resistant bacteria.
some of the measures to alleviate anti microbial resistance.
increased collaboration between government, non governmental agencies professional group and international agencies.
new network that undertake surveillance of antimicrobial use and antimicrobial resistance
international approach for control of counterfelt antimicrobials
use antibiotics at rational level . - maintain adequate treatment guidelines
over the counter antibiotics . - use antibiotics according to the prescription.
use guidelines for antibiotics . - .corr cor dose, route and duration
practice hygiene when using antibiotics . use alcohol based handrub or handwashing
identify the residents of MDR infections and use of standard treatment regime for their management ,vaccination, prevention of infection and ban on OTC sale of antimicrobials.
At hospital settings
establish infection prevention and control committee
practice good hygiene
effective diagnosis and treatment of infection
rational antimicrobial use
surveillance of antibiotics resistance and antibiotic use
improving antimicrobial quality and supply chain
good microbiology practices
educate health care providers.
